Don't worry I'm okay 🤗 This is what healing looks like with the modality of Guasha. Guasha originated in ancient China and promotes healing by circulating qi (energy) and drawing fluids, toxins, and xueblood to the surface. Using a Guasha tool, the practitioner will take long strokes on the effected area, alternating speed and pressure until the patients body ceases to return a response, we call this diminished returns. Guasha can be very beneficial in breaking down scar tissue, joint mobility and alleviating pain.

One of the best postures that will literally wring out your organs promoting detoxification, stimulating your digestive system as well as a spine strengthener and hip opener. The highlights to keep in mind once you feel stable and rooted through you the arches of your feet are to maintain an elongation through your front body and throat. Notice my drishti gazing up ☝🏼

In this posture, the drishti in intended to be upward in order to find a lightness and lift in your body as well as maintaining openness in your throat.

If you catch yourself sitting for long periods of time, this stretch is for you! Opening up in the pelvis, single leg stretches are great for creating space at your ischial tuberosity, or sit bones, and lengthening through the back of the leg, hamstrings and gastrocs (region of calf muscle) as well as opening up through the side body. When I’m in this posture, I use my breath as a tool, inhaling, space into my ribs coupled with an active reaching motion, exhaling, relaxing deeper into the formation🧘🏼‍♀️

The full body constriction promotes rejuvenated circulatory flow, supports the connection of muscle to bone and rids the body of toxins. Excellent way to start the day ❤️

Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃 im thankful for every one of you! I wanted to share a little fun fact about yoga! Ganda Bherundasana Did you know all yoga postures are rooted in Hindu mythology? Ganda Bherundasana or Chin Stand is a story of a 2 headed bird that is believed to possess magical powers. In this position, your body depicts its powers and strength. I like to bring my mind back to these stories while in the posture as it gives me a bigger sense of purpose in my practice. We too all possess magical powers

Urdvha Dhaurasana I always say a backbend is better than a cup of coffee! Inverting your spine sends adrenaline through your body, opening the front line and chest cavity as well as igniting the focused mind. Start where you are and utilizing your breath, move deeper through the posture. It took me a while to get deep into my own backbend, but I enjoyed every step of the journey. Stay tuned for my OFTV talking you through a proper backbend!

Forest Bathing 🍃⛰ Forest Bathing or Shinrin-Yoku, is the act of immersing oneself in our natures atmosphere. Originated in Japanese culture, forest bathing is done by detaching from modern conveniences of society (phone and camera) and tuning one’s senses into the present surrounding; the light of the sun coming through the leaves, the sound of the the wind rusting the branches, the smell of the fresh foliage, array of contrast and colors in flowers. This savoring of the forest is recommenced to be done for 2 hrs. Think about this on your next hike, setting your intention and grounding yourself into the ubiquitous connection of ourselves and Mother Earth. Benefits include reducing stress and anxiety, boosting immunity, improving quality of sleep, increasing attention and nurturing creativity.
