Martial arts stretches are one of the most under-utilized techniques for improving athletic performance, preventing sports injury and properly rehabilitating sprain and strain injury. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that something as simple as stretching won’t be effective. Stretching is essential in any athletic endeavor, but in martial arts it becomes vitally important because of the extreme range of motion required for many of the kicks, mostly the hip flexors. The explosive nature of martial arts also requires flexible muscles and joints. Once properly warmed up, the splits are a great way to open up those hip flexors and improve mobility for the range of motion that will be needed. Also, to prevent injury, these type of warm-up and stretch should be done 30 minutes before and after your activities.🥷🥋🥊

Getting a good stretch in before a workout is really important in preventing any kind of injury that might occur from lack of stretching such as muscle/ligament strains, pulls, or tears. Make sure you’re constantly stretching for at least a minimum of 5-10 minutes before a workout. Flexibility is very important in any fighting/combat sport. 💪🏼

Another basic strength and conditioning exercise that helps me hit harder👊🏼 😉 Subbing a bar bell for some lighter weights in this exercise. Make sure you keep your elbows in tight at about 45 degrees from your side when you’re doing this one keeping your core engaged and a neutral spine position throughout the movement.
