I can't stop thinking about the conspiracy theory that Pinky from "Pinky and the Brain," despite his silly demeanor, is the true genius, while Brain, despite his intelligence and elaborate world domination plans, is the one who is less intelligent. Yes, I do think the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) has had a profound impact on the animation industry, primarily through its influential animation program, which has produced numerous successful animators and filmmakers. The distinctive "CalArts style," characterized by a minimalist, expressive aesthetic and fluid, exaggerated character movements, has significantly shaped modern animation. This style emphasizes creativity and personal expression, encouraging students to develop unique visual identities. Notable alumni, including Tim Burton, John Lasseter, and Brad Bird, have carried this influence into mainstream media, shaping the visual and narrative styles of many popular cartoons and animated films today, thus cementing CalArts' legacy in contemporary animation.
