We're talking about a Simpsons game but I PROMISE that we will end up talking about tits by the end of this post. Trust me ;) haha
I've decided to get back into Simpsons Road Rage last night (on Gamecube), and boy, just like a few other things, those memories should have stayed in the past. It hasn't aged well! If it wasn't from being a Simpsons title, I doubt we'd even still talk about it in 2023. Actually, I know we wouldn't!
Simpsons road rage was basically a copy of Crazy Taxi (they got sued by Sega for this!), and also the first Simpsons title to be released on the PS2 (although I've only ever played it on Gamecube)
I think when I first played this I was too youung to understand that just because the game had the Simpsons attached to it didn't automatically make it good. And now that I am playing it many years later, I can see that the gameplay is actually quite repetitive and gets old quickly.
But at the end the day....if it was copying Crazy Taxi, it was meant to be more of an arcade title than a console title. An arcade games are meant to be played only a few minutes at at time. When I got bored after 10 minutes of driving in Simpsons Road Rage, I was feeling disappointed in my experience. But if it had been an arcade game, I would probably have felt that I had a good time. Just need different expectations I suppose.
BACK to my initial point. On one of the drives, I needed to drive the mayor to a strip club and he says "I need to see some titties"! I was like...WHAT? I am a pretty big fan of the Simpsons (actually just acquired the Simpsons Futurama crossover comic) and can't remember ANY sexualisation or mention of boobs in the Simpsons. Futurama, American Dad and Family Guy all find different ways to sexualize women, but the Simpsons? I can't recall many of them. We never see generous curves, very few talk about sex, etc. The sexiest it got was probably the butt of that babysitter when Homer wanted to eat the gummy bear, remember? Heck, even that babysitter was far from being the babysitter you'd see in comics now LOL! She was wearing jeans, small boobs, short brown hair...that's not screaming SEX! Am I crazy? Did I miss a bunch of sex talk on the Simpsons over the last 30 years? lol please comment if I'm wrong!
ps: I plan to soon play the GOOD Simpsons Game on GC (Hit & Run) lol! I'm already hoping my memories of those won't be ruined (and I don't think they will!)
Are the Batman fans from yesterday around? Okay, now let's add the Superman, Wonderwoman, Joker and a few other buddies fans! I need help (one last time for the weekend) to pick between both options! Which image looks better? With the big ass logo on top of the images or a smaller logo on the left? (flip to see the other image).
Another "upgrade" from A1Up for the CES announcement: new deluxe cabinets.
As you can see, they now have the screen at the same angle it was back in the days in arcades.
I'm torn on this. I love how this is more arcade accurate (no more risers as well for the machines - just one side board!). But is it really necessary?
I mean, I do have Class of 1981 and it plays perfectly fine with the screen as it is. Would I upgrade for a slanted one to make it more arcade accurate? No.
There's now faux coin door. Although I'm still waiting for those coin buttons to be working when you push on them. How hard can it be to just have them wired to add credits ? And add one tiny red LED!
And I just think the black panel at the back of the cab (above the screen) looks dumb. It was designed this way with a real arcade, but it was less noticeable. On the other hand, I love how they continued the artwork of the control panel on the front panel. If you check the old cab, it's just black and "boring".
How do you like it? If you keep flipping the images, you'll see the old (mine) version. Which one do you think looks better?
It's CES and you know that I will be looking at everything arcade related. A1Up has decided to release a casino "arcade". Wheels of fortune slots...poker, blackjack, bingo (LOL!) and a bunch of other games I never play! Oh, solitaire. My dad loves that game lol
I'm torn if I like it or not. But can see it doing REALLY good in retirement homes. I could imagine some grandpas and grandmas having a blast with this and lining up to play.
Always loved video black jack in Vegas, so I could see myself playing this. But there's no coins....there's no lever for the slots...!
It's a touch screen, but a 10" touch screen. So basically, it's a small iPad around a lot of MDF with some cheap graphics on it.
I think it's cool if someone has a nice game room and has older people coming over. I can see it being used during family parties during the holidays or Easter. Grandma sitting on her stool playing the shit out of Wheels of Fortune....or a tenth game of bingo where she just yells bingo and wins nothing? LOL!
Personally, I have a pachislot. A bugs bunny one. I love it! It has real (well, real pachislot coins) coins. There's no lever, but there are some cool animations, it spins, and it has a bunch of lights. It's a much much older machine though that I got for super cheap. But there's just something fun to put coins in the machine and hear it fall when you win.
I'm curious how much they will sell that one...
Since yesterday, I've been playing a lot of Dead or Alive 6. God, I love this fighting game. First off, all the crowd saying it's too "sexualized"? Go fuck yourself! If you want a fighting game without big tits, there are hundreds out there. Can we just let games be games? NFL Blitz should have late hits. DOA should have crazy big tits jiggling all over the place!
No matter what, the violence isn't as good as Mortal Kombat 11. The Mechanics aren't as great as Tekken 7. But the overall story / experience is quite fun.
What sucks is that you have the more conservative outfits to begin the game and the sexiest ones are locked due to the whining of conservative people with DOA 5. So...yeah, you gotta earn the sexy outfits! Oh well, here's one more challenge!
Oh and the tutorial is AMAZING. One of the best, so you can quite easily master that game if you invest some time. But rest assured, no need to study anything to just have a fun time!

I've been asked what games I was messing around with lately....so here are a few I've been playing with. I'm trying to expand my repertoire of games in the late 80s and early 90s! And I'm trying to find some more obscure games at the same time. I bet you don't know them all! The marquees are all done by me for my 16:9 Marquee screen. Sometimes, I correct the colours, sometimes I need to extend and fill some gaps, or complete the art. On some, it may take a few minutes, on others it may take up to an hour. But when I play a game, I love to have a nice marquee and I just love "not thinking" and working on this.
Pipi & Bibi got a new version released without the pornographic/erotic images recently. I'm playing the good old version, duh! LOL it's a bizarre and weird game, but a fun one haha!
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon...I'm surprised there aren't more games of her! Not that bad for a beat em up.

Final game was Carnevil. When I got my arcade a few weeks back, this is the first light gun game I've played. And I LOVED it. Somehow, didn't have the same love for it yesterday. Not sure why.
Maybe because I've played other games that were much better? Look, Wild West Shootout was also from 1998, and it looked SO MUCH better in my opinion. Carnevil hasn't aged that well. Don't get me wrong. I'd play it again (even naked!)....but I was expecting more (and that is my own fault!)

For my second game, I played Wild West Shootout. OMG I love those kind of games. Played a lot of Mad Bullets at a recent party I hosted...and I freaking love the mix of 2D and 3D those games offer.
WWS is just a fun shooter where you can rescue hostages and kill bad guys...with a boss at the end. If you swipe, you'll also see the image of the original cabinet. Kinda cool, right?
Those are my kind games. Turn off your mind. Just shoot and play. No need to be super gory or complicated. Also, I have NO idea what they have against chickens in those kind of games. There's always so many points by shooting chickens, but you can't shoot horses or you'll lose points! LOL such discrimination!!!!
On gaming night, I ended up playing 3 games. So here's the first part of the stream, playing Blue Estate. Tried it with light guns and it is SO much fun (except I need to find a way to hide / unhide as it wasn't working that well with the guns).
Strippers. Guns. Big tits. Gore. Stupid jokes. There's everything there for a good time to be honest lol! I haven't played much as I need to tweak the controls a little. I got stuck in "hide" mode LOL!
So far...I like what I'm seeing and I will definitely play it more in the future. I need to beat story mode to access arcade mode and play with friends...so I have some work in front of me during the holidays! Might even stream some more of it.

Another light gun game I'm considering tomorrow...yes, I've been on quite a streak of light gun games recently ! Gotta love those indie games from small independent studios. Friction is a hidden gem!!!

Been playing some Star Wars recently. Believe it or not, I've NEVER seen the movies. Like...NEVER! lol been playing the arcade game and the GC Rogue Leader one. It's fun. Not that I can relate because I saw the movies. I know...I know...you can call me a weirdo for not ever seeing one. I'm thinking "maybe someday" but there seems to be WAY TOO MUCH to catch up on.
I'm dreaming of Arcade 1Up releasing a new SW arcade like they did in their first run. It was such a beauty!
