I spent the majority of today helping build furniture for my..

I spent the majority of today helping build furniture for my friend. And when I say help, I mean I did everything and she watch me to it and reminded me to eat. I’m exhausted and I got a paper cut on my finger. BUT, I managed to get 2 Miles ran on the treadmill before getting up and showering before bed. Regardless, I’m exhausted haha But while taking with her in her new home, she asked about what to do in different scenario based events that are literally happening every week in the city. (Car robbery’s, car jackings, retail store theft, straight up assault and battery) I gave some very basic knowledge on what to do before she asked about what to do if riots start again and there’s civil unrest. I told her it depends on a couple things like if she had to stay in the city or if she could escape. She said she had no reason to stay and she fears her house would get broken into or targeted(based on location) Then I suggested that she shouldn’t be there in that event, and it’s safest just to escape the major city for the night or week. We talked about what a “bug out bag is” or a “SHTF” bag (shit hits the fan) This is the list we came up with of basic things needed if she were want to escape for up to 72 hours. Please note this is not everything but only some things, and it is environmentally specific. 1. Water and Filtration: Bottled water: At least one gallon per person for three days. Water purification tablets: These can be a lifesaver if you run out of bottled water. 2. Food: Non-perishable items: Think energy bars, canned goods (with a manual can opener!), and trail mix. 3. Clothing: Weather-appropriate spare clothes: This includes undergarments, socks, and a compact rain poncho. 4. First Aid Kit: Basic supplies like band-aids, gauze, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, pain relievers, and any personal medications. 5. Lighting: Flashlight: Preferably one with a hand-crank so batteries aren't necessary. Glow sticks: These can be useful for marking areas or signaling for help. 6. Communication: Battery-operated or hand-crank radio: This will be crucial for news updates. Whistle: An easy tool for signaling for help if needed. 7. Tools: Multi-tool: Something that has a knife, scissors, and other useful functions. Duct tape and zip ties: You'd be surprised at how many emergencies these can address! 8. Shelter and Warmth: Compact emergency blanket: These metallic sheets are lightweight and retain body heat. Hand warmers: Useful if you're in a colder climate. 9. Personal Items and Documents: Personal identification: Copies of your driver's license, passport, and any other relevant ID. Emergency contact list: Ensure it’s a physical copy in case mobile devices fail. 10. Cash: Having a small stash of varied bills can be crucial if digital payment systems go down. 11. Hygiene: Travel-sized toiletries: Think toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and sanitary wipes. 12. Bags: Resealable plastic bags: Useful for storing items and keeping them dry. Remember, this list is for a basic beginner's emergency bag. Depending on your individual needs and the nature of potential emergencies in your area, you might want to customize and expand upon this list. As always, the key is to be prepared, not scared. Here are some scenarios where I often noticed shooters carelessly placing their "finger on the trigger": 1. Engaging with an unloaded firearm at the sales counter. 2. When sliding the rack to chamber a bullet. 3. Handling their firearm at the firing line with no intention to shoot. 4. While placing their firearm in a holster. 5. During the act of reloading the magazine. It doesn't matter how "hi-speed" you are, do not carelessly have your finger on the trigger unless you're ready to shoot. Let’s talk about my absolute favorite topic. Guns! No not biceps… I’m talking 9MM, 5.56, and 7.62! Here I’ve got the SCAR-H. If you’ve played call of duty you’re familiar with this firearm. The SCAR-H stands out as an exceptional assault rifle, praised for its outstanding performance in the field. It’s, renowned for its reliability and durability, this battle-tested beast is a top choice among military personnel and firearm enthusiasts, like myself alike. It’s gas-operated & rescued recoil, the SCAR-H has incredible accuracy, which allows users to stay precise in high stress situations. Its modular design empowers shooters to tailor the rifle to their liking, creating a personalized weapon that complements their style and mission needs. This is the SCAR-H 17S, which takes 7.62x51mm NATO rounds which are pretty large rounds for the regular population. This round is gonna go through most walls, doors, glass, cinderblocks, car doors…. Pretty much anything that’s not specifically made to prevent a 7.62 round. Moreover, the Picatinny rail system permits the attachment of a wide array of tactical accessories, elevating the SCAR-H's adaptability and versatility. I’ve got a bipod, ACOG scope, laser and sling on this bad boy.. At the gym the other day, a guy came up to me asking how much I workout. Slightly annoyed because I literally was in the middle of my set ( don't do that, wait till someones finished to talk) I told him my training regiment. I train daily no matter what. Most days will be weightlifting and Jiu-jitsu, and my "rest" days will be an active rest day of cardio, abs, and Muay Thai. He said I must not have time to do anything else. To which I explained that I'm extremely busy but that I'm busy with things bettering my life and adding value. I plan out the next day the night before, and am getting things done nonstop. I start work early in the morning, knock out things before breakfast, then head to hit the weights and run errands. Afterward and through lunch, I'm knocking out more emails and working on the computer while doing things around the house, laundry, dishes, and messing with my gear. He said he never would have time to do everything and train twice a day. I replied back that without making time, you'll never change. It was a moment of realization for both of us. Lesson learned: In the pursuit of our goals, it's crucial to prioritize our health and fitness. Making time for ourselves is essential for personal growth and achieving what we desire. We all have busy lives, but dedicating even a little time each day to fitness can make a world of difference. Your health is an investment – one that yields lifelong rewards. Let's touch back on "health services" because I got a lot of questions in my messages about it. "Health" never gets talked about enough, but it's paramount if you want to stay in the fight. Specifically, the Individual First Aid Kit, or IFAK. It's a tool that comes straight out of the military field, a tool designed for those who are ready to face adversity and deal with the immediate aftermath. The world is a battlefield. Sometimes, it's a physical battlefield with danger and threats you can see, other times, it's an internal struggle, a fight against your weaknesses. But no matter what battlefield you're on, you need to be prepared. The IFAK is one piece of gear that's not just for combat veterans or police officers but for anyone who takes their safety seriously. The purpose of an IFAK is simple but essential: it's about immediate response. It's about addressing those injuries that can turn a tough soldier into a casualty in minutes. The essentials in an IFAK? Hemorrhage control, airway management, and addressing chest wounds. A tourniquet is your first line of defense against severe fluid loss. In the heat of battle, it can be the difference between survival and becoming a statistic. Your IFAK should always have one, maybe two, ready to deploy. Next, the chest seal. A penetrating chest wound can cause what we call a tension pneumothorax, a life-threatening condition. A chest seal in your IFAK can buy the time you need until medical help arrives. An NPA, or nasopharyngeal airway, is another tool for the toughest situations. It's there to maintain an open airway in a casualty who's not awake or has severe facial trauma. Hemostatic dressings are not your everyday gauze. They're designed to stop the loss of fluid faster and more effectively, which can be a lifesaver in the field. But owning an IFAK isn't enough. You need to know how to use it. You need to train with it. So, get your hands on an IFAK, get trained on how to use it, and be ready to face whatever comes at you. It's about discipline. It's about owning your safety. It's about taking responsibility. You don't want to be caught in a situation where you wish you had one and trained on it. Get after it.
