CHANGE IN SIZE, CHANGE IN LIFE – Part 3 [Short story with montages for GiantDan] The sun was shining brightly through the window as Dan woke up, stretching his arms and yawning. He got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, stepping on Jim without even realizing it if not for a faint crunch. "Oops, sorry little guy," Dan said without even glancing down “you should watch my steps…” he adds with a smirk. Jim’s crushed remains are left on the floor as the giant move on… Soon enough the poor guy restore, only to watch Dan walk away, still feeling his ribs ache from the weight of Dan's foot even if he was back fine. He struggled to get back up, however he knew that he needed to find some food before Dan forgot about him again. As Jim searched for crumbs in the kitchen, Dan made himself breakfast and sat down at the table, checking his phone. "Mmm, this bacon is delicious," Dan said to himself. Meanwhile, Jim was busy scavenging for any bits of food he could find. He eventually found a crumb of toast and dragged it back to his makeshift home, a small matchbox that he had found lying around. As the day went on, Dan went about his routine, completely ignoring Jim's existence. He watched TV, played video games, and eventually settled down on the couch with his laptop. Jim was watching from a corner, trying to stay out of sight. But as Dan got up to grab a drink, he accidentally stepped on Jim again. "Ugh, I keep forgetting you're down there..." Dan muttered, looking down at his foot but not even bothering to actually look underneath and check the tiny guy “you should learn to get out of my way when I move…”. Useless to say there was nothing Jim always tried harder then that but get away from the giant path in time was most of the times impossible for him, he was simply too small and slow. So once again he was pinned under Dan's colossal sole, exploding under the impossible weight like a pathetic zit and then remain stuck on it. When the foot rised as the giant kept walking, he restored but struggling to get free was sadly useless and he simply got crushed over and over as the titanic man walked. Dan didn't seem to notice or most likely he simply didn’t cared... He walked over to the couch, plopping down on it and streching his legs to be more comfortable, rising his soles up in the process and resting his feet on heels. Jim was trapped on Dan's foot, unable to move as Dan scrolled through his laptop. He could feel Dan's warm skin against him, and he could barely breathe. "Please, Dan, help me! I beg you!" Jim called out, his voice barely audible over the sound of the TV. But Dan didn't hear him. He was too engrossed in his laptop to notice that he had stepped on his tiny friend. It wasn't until later that evening, when Dan got up to go to bed, that he suddenly felt something crackle under his foot. He stopped for a moment and looked down at his foot, wondering what it could be. He remembered his tiny friend Andy, and for a second, he thought that he might have accidentally stepped on him but wasn’t even sure whan it happened. Dan just rolled his eyes "Again..." but he didn't bother to check, he just assumed that it was Jim “how many times should I tell you to watch out my steps? How stupid one has too be to keep end under my feet? Bah… I start to wonder if you’re liking it…” Dan spoke, without really expecting any answer and continued to walk, feeling the occasional squish and crack under his foot, as he went about his evening routine. He went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face, and as he looked in the mirror, he couldn't help but think about his little friend. -He's so small and pathetic… If I focus hard enough I can feel him stuck under my foot like a piece of dirt... Fuck, to be honest I bet he's not even worth saving...- Dan thought, with a chuckle. His consideration toward his now tiny and once friend was getting lower each moment passing. He rinsed his face and headed to the kitchen to get a drink of water. As he walked back to his room, he kept felt that sensation under his foot. It felt like there was something stuck to the sole of his foot, like a crumb or something crunchy, but he knew it wasn’t just that... Finally, after a little snort, he decided to rise his foot up and check his sole. There, as expected he saw a tiny figure stuck to his foot. "Well, well, well..." Dan chuckled to himself, shaking his head with disapproval "Seems I got a bug stuck on my sole…” he added with a grin. Jim looked up at Dan, fear etched on his face. "No! No it’s me! I’m not a bug! Dan please, I’m your friend! Jim! Help me! I beg you!" he pleaded. "I'm stuck to your foot! I can't get free! Please!" Dan laughed at the pathetic chirping pleads of the minuscule creature, a part of him actually amused at the sight of his tiny friend. “Ha! Look at you, all stuck to my foot like a piece of dirt… How can you even think to state you’re not a bug? Jeez… You're so small and pathetic, it's almost disgusting.” he hesitate, pondering about it for a moment before agging “But maybe you’re right, you’re not a bug… you’re even less then that, you’re just dirt.” Jim's eyes widened in horror "What? How can you say that? I'm a person! I have feelings and thoughts! How can you be so callous? I'm your friend, Dan! Please! Please!" more and more desperate. Dan just shrugged. ""Look… I don't have time for this. I have much more important things to do then talk to the dirt under my feet. So, I’ll be clear once and for all and then that’s it. Perhaps you WERE a person, perhaps we were friends, you had feelings and thoughts, but now… now no more. You’re no different then the dirt I step on everyday, seriously. Most of the times I don't even notice when I step on you… Come on…” Dan just chuckled. "You're so small, it's easy to forget you even exist. It's kind of funny, really." Jim's heart sinks as he realizes that Dan truly doesn't care about him at all anymore, not even considering an actual living being anymore, there was no hope for him. Dan will never care about his tiny life anymore, and he was doomed to be crushed and ignored for the rest of his days. “Dan… Please! No! No! Don’t say that! I beg you… please! We’re friends! It’s still me! Please!” he cryed. Dan looks down at Jim, his expression blank. "Sorry, you're just too small for me to bother with..." he replies with a shrug “I won’t waste any more time with you… fuck! It’s crazy to speak with the dirt under my soles! What the heck? Makes me feel silly… So this is a goodbye. Wish you best luck down there, perhaps you’ll eventually peel off from my sole… or maybe not, who cares…” with that, he just shrugged and started to lower his foot back down. Jim was crying so bad, being so desperate and in pure terror and started to scream even louder “noooo… please no! Dan! I beg you! Pleaseeee…” but he soon went silent as the huge foot press him back down against the floor, destroying his body, crushing him once more so mercilessly. With that, Dan just went on about his day as if nothing happened, leaving Jim crushed and stuck under his foot without a second thought and simply kept walking around… From that moment on, he even felt relieved for his decision, he never felt remorse or regret for his actions, completely callous and indifferent to the suffering of the small creatures beneath him. He didn’t cared about bugs ending up crushed under his feet, them were zero to him and dirt was obviously even less then that. From that moment on, he never spoke to Jim again, truly forgetting about his existence and just going on with his life as all this didn’t even happened, sealing the tiny guy into a real hellish circle. In the following years, it just happened from time to time, he’d feel or hear a faint crunch under his soles and just then, only for a brief instant, he’d think back to Jim… That, at least brought a fleeting smirk on Dan’s lips, was nothing but probably the only thing the little guy’s existence was worth of...
