THE UNFORTUNATE SAD LIFE OF HUMANTS [Short story] Everyone knew about the existence of humAnts, but they used to hide so it wasn’t so common to see them around, plus they were so tiny that mostly they ended up being stepped on withouth “giant people” even realise. Truth be told, despite those tiny creatures could speak and had some intellect, they were considered nothing but another kind of bugs. And just like bugs, despite some people could have some interest and curiosity toward them, they were basically meaningless… No rights and noone really cared about their fate. No doubt life was tough for the little creatures, they often faced terrible moments and injustices, just like what happened in the yard of a Luke the other day... It was a sunny afternoon and Luke went out into his yard to enjoy the warm sun. As he was about to sit down in his favorite chair, he spotted something moving on the floor with the corner of his eye. "Huh, what the hell is that?" Luke muttered to himself, peering down at the tiny moving thing. He leaned down to get a closer look and saw a tiny guy, only one inch in height, glued to the floor, face up, right where he had his chair. He noticed what seemed some dried dark drops near the minuscle being and just then he reminds of the previous day when he spilled some coke off his glass, it was evident that the tiny guy had accidentally gotten stuck in one of those sticky drops. The tiny guy looked up, fear etched across his face. His tiny heart was racing, it was known among the small people that giants rarely had mercy toward them. Few had met a giant and lived long enough to tell it. The little guy was stuck, he couldn't run, so the only thing he could do was try to steady his voice enough to shout and beg "Please, sir giant! I beg you! Have mercy of me... I got stuck in this sticky spot... I'm sorry! I swear if you set me free and let me live i'll flee immediately and you'll never ever see me again... please! I need your help to get unstuck! I don't wanna die! Please... please..." Luke was curious at first, it was kind of funny to see him wiggle his tiny limbs so frantically, making those silly high pitched buzzing noises. He couldn't really understand what he was trying to say even if he could easilly guess he was in fear and begging for mercy. Sadly for the minuscule guy, Luke curiosity soon fade out and he lost interest in him, rising back up he make himself comfortable on the chair while mumbling to himself "pffft... poor unlucky lil bastard... you walked on the wrong spot... how pathetic that just a dried drop of my drink can fuck you up like that..." and with that, just like anyone would do with a random bug into their yard, he started to ignore him, returning to his relax. "Noooo... sir giant! Please! Help me please!" kept shouting the little guy, his hopes to get help were quickly erased. At least the giant didn't crushed him right there, but neither rescqued him. However, the tiny guy's situation worsened when Luke, getting comfortable on his chair, moved his feet... He was glued right on the spot in front of the colossal chair and so it happened that giant foot and heel ended up hovering right above him. It was a pure coincidence, but for the tiny guy, it was a nightmare come true. He could see the immense foot and heel of the giant covering his sky, engulfing him into it's shadow. There was no scarier sight then this for one of the tiny people! The tiny guy tried even harder to move, to get free, escape, to do anything to get away from the terrifying danger looming over him, but it was all in vain. He was trapped, helpless and at the mercy of the towering man above him. The tiny guy's eyes widened with terror as he watched Luke's foot hover above him, ready to crush him at any moment. The tiny guy could feel the sweat on his forehead, and his heart was beating faster than it ever had before. He knew that if Luke's foot came down on him, it would be the end of him. He had never felt so small and insignificant in his whole little life. He could see each single detail of that colossal foot above him, he could feel it's damp warmth and no doubt most of all, the intense smell that was almost c h o k i n g him, making him gag and cough. It was both scary and impressive for sure, it was hard to admit but it was like staring at god's sole. Time seemed to freeze in this tense and horrifing situation for the minuscule guy while for Luke, everything was going nice, peaceful and relaxing as he simply took some sun. Luke honestly simply already forgot about the tiny guy and was going on about his day. The tiny guy lay there, unable to move, unable to escape, each single second seemed to last forever cause he perfectly knew that it could be his last... Just a little wrong movement of that giant's foot, could be his end. One whole hour passed in which more then once Luke moved his foot, at times forward, allowing some relief and hopes to the tiny guy, at times back on top of him... having his arch of heel hover over him. At times lowering it down, almost touching the minuscule creature but surprisingly and just by pure coincidence, never crushing him. Most of the time, however, the giant heel was on top of the tiny guy, hovering over him and then all of a sudden, Luke decided it was time to get back inside home, he had things to do. The little guy watched in horror as Luke stood up and the shockingly wide and big heel started to lower on top of him, coming closer and closer to him. Panic and fear took him and he screamed to the top of his lungs "oh my god! Nooooooo... no no no no! Please no! Aaaaaaaaahhh..." He wasn't even heard, Luke's foot came crashing down on him inesorably and mercilessly, as it impacted with him, the little creture could feel all it's impossible weight and power and in no time, his minuscule frail frame collapsed so painfully, so quickly. The tiny guy's last moments were filled with terror and pain. He had known that his life was in danger from the moment he had become stuck to the ground, but to be crushed to death by a giant foot was indeed the worst fate he had ever imagined. As Luke stood up, could barely feel a thing under his thick heel is not a faint cruncy pop. Just then he could remind of the tiny "insect" he seen stuck on his yard floor and could easily guess what just happened. He just stomped the little thing without even notice. He couldn't help but chuckle at this "woops... helped him out of his misery after all..." and with that, withouth even check his foot or what was left of the tiny creature, he simply walked away forgetting about the tiny's existence almost immediately... That's the unfortunate fate of most of the tiny people, becoming just dirt and staind under the soles of the giants...
