I have a question for the people that know stuff about cars...

My really old car swerves all the place when I hit bumps in the road (to the point where it’s too unsafe for the highway) and my steering wheel is cocked to right all time (even if I’m driving in a straight line) …should I take it to a mechanic and possibly pay a lot of money to fix it or just buy a next car?
