Well I went to see Alien Romulus because I’m a HUGE aliens fan! And Fede Alvarez is definitely one of the best up and coming Horror directors! So I was excited! Wellllllll… it started off pretty strong! I didn’t like the main protagonist so much! She was a little bland and definite not Segourney weaver. Her “brother” the android was the best character by far!
The first half is pretty good! Claustrophobic and spooky with some decent jump scares. The Face Hugger scene was probably the best part. (Made me want more alien dilly’s lol) but there was one HUGE issue. The gestation period for an alien from implantation - full grown has always been at least a few hours, even days. Not here.
From face hug to full grown alien took LITERALLY 32 minutes! Based on the timer within the movie (a countdown). And I’m just like… nahhhhh… but ok. Once the xenomorph shows up you get a few good 💀 scenes. But nothing spectacular. And they jump the shark at the end worse than I’ve seen in a long time.
Somehow the magical life juice from the Prometheus movies shows up, and creates this hybrid baby thing with a xeno tail. And then the movie ends.
