I eventually got some new pots for me to grow the scallions ..
Added 2021-11-15 00:36:11 +0000 UTCI eventually got some new pots for me to grow the scallions in (and other small veggies if I wanted to change it up a bit). They were perfect because they could get rid of any excess water that I might have poured in. If there was and the dirt was still wet, I made sure to wait at least another day or 2 before watering again. I also stole some dirt lmao, again. The dirt that I used in the little buckets, I had stolen that from another houseplant xD And then I had noticed there were new bags of fertilized soil on the front porch, so I took some for my pots lolz. I never grabbed the dirt from the yard mainly because I don't trust it. The grass doesn't really grow on it, and I'm sure with the occasional fall of burnt coal from bbq-ing, it's probably a good idea not to use it. If I did, I'd try to test it first somehow, but seeing as we got new soil anyway, I just grabbed that instead haha. Now with some new pots and new soil for my scallions, I was free to worry a bit less about them :) The good thing was that because of the summer heat, I could just leave them in the shade so they don't burn in direct sunlight, and they'd still grow! Plus, being on a shelf with the other plants meant less insects walking around.
