When your goal is to do the splits, there are several different stretches you can do as a warm up. This is one of my go to's and, coincidentally, it is also a position of pilates. You will first recline back and using the strength of your glutes, lift your leg to your hand, if your hand does not reach your foot, you can adjust your back off the ground to grab your foot. Once you have the connect between hand and foot, use your breath to recline back, pulling your foot closer to your head, and maybe, eventually... your head will touch your knee 😳
